Picky Eaters Paradise Hello fellow picky eater! It's Owen here! Today I am writing this to give a thank you to my teacher for giving us this assignment. To begin with this class, I was hesitant when finding out about my 26 blogs that were needed to be completed. I figured it would be cheesy and weird to write about something of my choice. To be honest through this i realized I like writing the blogs and it kind of helped me branch out from my picky eating roots. This will be the last picky eater's blog. Thank you! Your fellow picky eater, Owen. GOODBYE!

Smoked Mac' and Cheese

Image
Picky Eaters Paradise Hello fellow picky eaters! It's Owen here! This week in food and nutrition, we got a choice lab. In these labs we get to decide and make our own meal and with our own ingredients. We decided to make this smoked mac and cheese! With three types of smoked cheese such as gruyere. parmesan, and gouda cheese, we made this masterpiece in one class period! We all got some left over even after sharing with the rest of the class. I give this an easy fifteen out of ten! (A secret to the crust was bacon bits and crushed pork rinds)

Pancakes

Image
Picky Eaters Paradise Hello fellow picky eaters, it's Owen here! This week in my food and nutrition class, we made pancakes. We tried to taste and see the difference between box mix and making the pancakes from scratch. This batch was the make from scratch version. After cooking like normal when the sides are formed, and the top of the pancake has bubbles you flip and then let it cook until both sides are a nice golden brown. I think that we did really good and they also tasted extremely good.

Crab Legs

Image
Picky Eaters Paradise  Hello fellow picky eater, it's Owen here! This past week I got to go on vacation with a few friends for spring break! During this trip the one night we all look for is the time we all go to a crab leg buffet! For my friends, it was just another day of going. They go every time. I however, had never been. When I walked in, the sea themed restaurant beckoned me in. The endless pile of king crab leges filled the table as my friends and I dug in. I give the crab legs a ten out of ten because I did not believe I would even enjoy them as much as I did. I cannot wait to go back. (Below is a picture of the ice cream i got from the restaurant because I didn't have a picture of the crab leg).

Roast Beef

Image
Picky Eaters Paradise Hello fellow picky eaters, its Owen here! This week I had the opportunity to help my dad with the duties of running a luncheon. For his nonprofit that he is the executive director of, we set up a luncheon to gain financial assistance. Anyways, I got to eat the food while serving, and it consisted of chicken, roast beef, mashed potatoes and more. I would like to explain the roast beef. This amazingly tender and juicy roast beef was by far the best I had ever had! (Best part was the fact that I got to take it home).

Spaghetti and Marinara Sauce

Image
Picky Eaters Paradise Hello fellow picky eaters! It’s Owen here! This week along with the pasta lessons described in my last blog, we made some more food! This was a two-day lab mixed with creating our own pasta dough and marinara sauce. The first day consisted of creating the dough and making the sauce. After doing so, the next day we made it altogether and rolled and cut the dough to a fettuccine type noodle and reheated the sauce to make spaghetti. I am not a red sauce type of guy. However, I did enjoy this dish when paired with parmesan cheese (heavily doused of course). I did have to chop the onions very finely because I don't particularly enjoy onions, but I rate this spaghetti 7/10.

Creamy Alfredo

Picky Eaters Paradise Hello fellow picky eaters! It’s Owen here! As I have previously mentioned in other blogs, I am in a food and nutrition class. We make different foods based on what we learned in class. To be honest, we make simple foods, but they often push me out of my comfort zone. From vegetables in the microwave, homemade pasta, and even eggs in the microwave, I have tried a lot. With that said, this previous week I made creamy alfredo sauce with noodles. The picture below isn't the best looking, however, it tasted very good after adding salt, pepper, and some garlic powder. My friends and I had a fun time making and learning about pasta-based food groups.

Fudge

Image
Picky Eaters Paradise Hello fellow picky eaters! It’s Owen here! Referring back to the Disney trip, my friends and I ate…. A LOT! One of my favorite snacks/ desserts that I ate was fudge. I tried three different flavors. Chocolate, chocolate peanut butter, and rocky road. The chocolate one was very good; however, it was pretty generic for a trip to Disney. The chocolate peanut butter was so good! It was a good combination of peanut butter and chocolate. Not too generic but also simple. Finally, rocky road! This one was my favorite because it was chocolate fudge with walnuts, and marshmallows. Overall, the fudge was super good but not worth the amount of money with other good options at Disney.

Butterbeer

Picky Eaters Paradise Hello fellow picky eaters! It’s Owen here! I am starting to want to explain my food experiences at Disney because of how much fun I had. This day was experienced at Universal.  With that being said, another special food was a Harry Potter classic and one that many people have to get! Butterbeer! This smooth and sweet drink is basically a ginger ale with a butter scotch foam on the top. I really enjoyed the foam, but I feel like the drink itself was not up to the hype that I heard from my Harry Potter friends. I give the drink a 6/10 but most likely will not get it again if I find myself at Universal again.

Turkey Legs

Image
Picky Eaters Paradise   Hello fellow picky eaters! It's Owen here. Based on one of my previous posts, I got to go on a trip to Disney World. I tried a variety of different foods of the different cultures and countries of Epcot. One of my favorites was American food. Yes, I know, why would I want to enjoy American food if I have so many different food options to choose from. If you know me (even though most of you don't), my favorite type of theme park food is TURKEY LEGS! I ate one from Disney and one from Universal and I have not stopped craving for another. The meat falls off the bone and is juicy and extremely flavorful. 10/10 is what I would rate the turkey legs and I definitely will get more!

Chicken Gnocchi

Image
Picky Eaters Paradise Hello fellow picky eaters! It’s Owen here! Today I tried to recreate my favorite Olive Garden dish. Chicken and Gnocchi. Being a creamy and flavorful dish that incorporates vegetables and chicken, this dish is so good and was not super difficult to make. Once all the basic ingredients are brought together you cook your chicken, then make your “soup” while cooking our veggies down and making the flavors fully combine. My girlfriend and I got to have a great dinner and also a pre-made lunch for tomorrow! I rate this dish a 9/10 because it was definitely better the next day, however, the gnocchi would be better if it was homemade like a dough. I definitely would make it again.

Crab Rangoon

Picky Eaters Paradise Hello fellow picky eaters, It's Owen here! This weekend was full of fun with friends at Disney World! The park that we were able to visit was Epcot. Being the park of the different countries and cultures, we had to make sure we stopped by and grabbed a quick bite to eat. One food that I tried was located in China. The crab Rangoon's were one of my top favorites of the day and did not disappoint! Being filled with crab, cream cheese, and fried in a special shell, these big explosions of flavor were no joke!
